How did I prepare for NIMCET? Resources & All Study Material

I've been asked so many questions related to NIMCET on Linkedin and WhatsApp (from my juniors obviously) like how did I prepare, which resources I followed, which test series I joined, Is it possible to crack NIMCET without coaching so on and so forth. So, Let's see all the answers in one place.

I took coaching in my 3rd year of B.Sc from June 2019 to September 2020. It was a 1-year coaching but due to corona, it got extended till the NIMCET examination. Coaching was really helpful throughout my preparation. But I wasn't able to understand maths concepts there. The teachers were good no doubt but it wasn't working for me. And that's the reason why I performed very bad in initial coaching tests. I just felt coaching teachers were too focused on covering the syllabus and telling the short tricks instead of concepts. (P.S: Short tricks were good though but you have to memorize them!)

Ain't you planning to take coaching? No worries :) You can do it.

Resources for Mathematics

I covered the whole maths from YouTube and solved questions from coaching material. But if you're not taking coaching you can follow the resources mentioned below. Trust me they are more than sufficient.

  1. Unacademy JEE Youtube Channel (All concepts)
  2. Maarula Classes Youtube Channel (Practice Questions)
  3. 1 Shot Videos for Quick Revision (Videos)
  4. Maths Formula Cheatsheet (PDF)
  5. Level-wise Questions for each chapter (PDFs)
  6. Quick Notes + Questions (PDFs)

How to follow:

Watch all the videos of a particular chapter from the Unacademy channel (you can skip videos of JEE Advance level but don't skip any other concept/ques/quiz. All concepts are equally important). Don't forget to make your own notes. Solve questions from level-wise chapter pdf (mentioned above) and that's it. Move on to the next chapter. Refer to other material for revision.

Resources for Reasoning

There is no specific syllabus for reasoning. You need to focus on some important topics which are asked frequently in NIMCET. Reasoning Topics:

  • Average (Mean)
  • Time, Speed & Distance (Train ques are important)
  • Boat & Streams
  • Clock
  • Calendar
  • Puzzles (Very Important)
  • Rank & Sitting Arrangement
  • Syllogism
  • Series
  • Blood Relations
  • Coding & Decoding
  • Directions
  • Cubes & Dices
  • Allegation & Mixtures
  • Ratio & Proportion

Study Material for Reasoning:

  1. RS Aggarwal Reasoning Book (PDF)
  2. Shortcuts in Reasoning (Verbal, Non-Verbal & Analytical) for Competitive Exams (PDF)
  3. Top 50 Puzzle Questions
  4. Dear Sir Youtube Channel
  5. Wifi-Study Youtube Channel

Resources for Computer

There are two sections in computer. One is computer basics from which they can ask anything like literally anything! (Generally, 3-4 questions come from this section) and other is data representation. I did only data representation because first I'm not good at remembering stuff and second it consists of 4-5 topics only & that too logic-based. In computer basics, you need to memorize a lot and still, you can't be sure of making those 3-4 questions because you know you can forget things in examination right. So I would suggest, first complete data representation part. Topics:
1. Boolean Algebra (Very Important)
2. Binary Arithmetic
3. 1s, 2s, 3s, 9s 10s complement
4. All Conversions
5. Floating-Point Representation
6. BCD, Gray Codes

Resources: Just search the topic on youtube and learn from any channel that you like. (I did the same)

Resources for English

Honestly, I ignored English completely. I did only previous year comprehensions that's it. You can do more.
  • Comprehension Practice Material

Is it necessary to take coaching for NIMCET?

See if you can afford then don't think twice just take it. Coaching pushes you to do more, it helps in feeling that pressure of entrance which is also important. Through coaching tests, you can see where you stand among your batchmates. But if you can't afford it then also you can crack NIMCET! Just be clear with your goal and keep running on that path.

All the best for your exam!

P.S: If you still wanna ask something feel free to comment down. Suggestions are always welcome :)

Stay safe πŸ’›
